About the Book: Antonia Lucia Labella wants to be a saint. An official one and the first living saint in Catholic history. To Antonia, the saints are like royalty. She knows just which saint to pray to in every situation and keeps a saint diary. She even writes petitions to the Vatican every month with her newest saint idea (and suggestion that she could become that saint!)
The other thing Antonia is dreaming of is her first kiss. She’s hoping it will be from the very cute love of her life Andy Rotellini.
There’s also Michael McGinnis, who Antonia was friends with a couple of summers ago. Her friend Maria seems to think there’s something between them, but Antonia doesn’t want to agree.

GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: When I first read about this book, I thought "hmm, sounds cute, but how interesting can a story about a girl obsessed with saints be?" But I was wonderfully surprised! This story has heart and a wonderfully cohesive family that you don't see often in teen fiction.
I loved spending time with Antonia and her big Italian family and Antonia's side comments about being a Catholic School Girl always made me laugh out loud. I also give big cheers to Maria, who is a great example of a true best friend.
Overall, this is a fun story that is a great feel good read. I would recommend to anyone looking for a smart romance with a great cast of characters.
I've got this one on my shelf at home and it looks pretty good, just a bit dull. Now your review changed my mind, because I was thinking the same thing: "how interesting can a book about a saint-obsessed girl be?" LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Bookworm! I was pleasantly surprised by this book and ended up really enjoying it. Plus, I learned a lot about the saints! I hope you like it!
ReplyDeleteThe cover of this one is pretty enough to make me want to read it alone! :)

I've been considering reading this, but I was put off by the religious content.
ReplyDeleteThis definitely sounds different. I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does the cover model kind of look like Liv Tyler? LOL

LisaMay-I agree that the cover is super cute!
ReplyDeleteParadox-I feel so much better that I'm not the only one who wasn't sure about this one. The story was more of a romance than anything else, so you might like it.
Deidre-THANK YOU! Ever since I read it, I've been trying to think who that girl looks like! And I think she does look like Liv Tyler.
