Want It Wednesday Extra

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
Release Date: 5/5/09
Here you go Percy fans! It's the cover of the fifth and final (sniff) Percy Jackson book due out in May. I love this series and have given it to so many tweens and teens since The Lightning Thief first came out. It's one of my favorite go-to books when someone asks what book to read. We'll even be hosting a Camp Halfblood party in late April at my library. I'll be sad to see this series end, but hopefully we'll get to hear more from Percy and Camp Halfblood!
Be sure to check out Rick Riordan's blog for a fun interview about the cover!

  1. I haven't read this series but it would fit a few of my challenges. I will add it to my list for sure

  2. I haven't read this series either (looks kind of like a guy thing, LOL) but I have the first one on my shelf...

  3. Yeah, it is a guy read-it's one that I can pretty always sell to tween guys that come into the library, if they haven't read it already. It's very Harry
Potter-ish with the camp and mythology and quests, but it's a fun series and it refreshs all that Greek Mythology stuff I remember learning way back when!:)

  4. Hm, never heard of these books - but Greek mythology is always a plus! I'll check it out as long as it's not a "guy read" like Boy Minus Girl - now that is a little bit too much boy perspective for me :D

  5. They're not too much of a "guy read"-if you liked Harry Potter, you'd probably like this series too.

  7. Eeek!!!! I can't wait for the last book! The Percy Jackson series is at the top of my fairly short list of favorite books, so I have been anticipating this one for nearly a year. It is sort of sad that it's the last one, though...

13 District Mockingjay Tour: District 4

Hello and welcome to District Four. I'm sorry that Finnick isn't here to be your host. I know as a member of District Four I should be cheering for my own tribute, but after watching the last two Hunger Games play out I have fallen in love with Peeta Mellark! Why do I love Peeta? He's smart, he's funny, and he's charming. He stands up for what he believes, he's loyal and he's not afraid to do what's right. He's sensitive and caring but can also be strong and kick butt. He fights for Katniss and with Katniss. Peeta is a great diplomat and he knows how to bring people together. He can also be sneaky to get what he wants. Plus, did I mention he can bake? And he's hot!! But it's not just me! We have an underground club of sorts here in District Four-Seafaring Librarians for Peeta! Here's what some of our members had to say about their love for Peeta: - Team Peeta!! I love their relationship because they balance each other perfectly. Where
