Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. I don't normally post Waiting on Wednesday's unless there's a book that I'm very excited about!
Matched by Ally Condie
GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: I heard about this one a couple months ago and it was sold in a huge deal and being compared to Twilight. I just love the idea of a society who picks soul mates for everyone and what happens if you choose someone else. And then the cover came out and it's gorgeous!

Release Date: 11/30/2010
From Goodreads:
In the novel, a 17-year-old girl, who has waited her entire life to be told by a group known as “the Society” who her soul mate is, has her world upended when she discovers she’s in love with someone other than the group’s pick. Don Weisberg, president of Penguin Young Readers Group, along with Lauri Hornik, president and publisher of Dutton Children’s Books, and Julie Strauss-Gabel, associate publisher of Dutton Children’s, all worked on the deal, which is for North American rights. Gabel, who will edit the book, said that it “will make readers crave the passion of uncertainty and cherish the power of the written word.” And Reamer, expectedly perhaps, drew the Meyer parallel, saying reading Matched reminded her of the first time she read Twilight.GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: I heard about this one a couple months ago and it was sold in a huge deal and being compared to Twilight. I love the sound fo this. And the beautiful cover! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this book. And, the author lives in the city where I work, how awesome is that?! But, I don't think the plot is like Twilight, maybe the buzz is reminiscent of Twilight?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one - it sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation. ;-)

ReplyDeleteShe's a local author for me too and I am just so excited about all the publicity she's gotten! (Not to mention the book sounds awesome.)
ReplyDeleteAHHH! This sounds so awesome. I can't wait. Nice pick.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of you readers who have local authors! Maybe the buzz is like Twilight, but I don't think the plot sounds like Twilight at all. Everyone's trying to find the next big thing though, so they're always comparing books.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks amazing! I cannot wait to read it :) The premise sounds very original.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I understand why it is done, I would prefer that books would stop being compared to Twilight. I'm really looking forward to this book, though! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is on my TBR list. I love the cover and description.
